Bio
Born in Athens in 1976,Dimitris Zapatinas was fascinated by cinema from an early age.
Making short movies on vhs and beta with his friends in high school, he was sure to follow down
the road of film, tv etc.He started working as a radio sound engineer and producer from the age of
16 for local radio stations in Athens as well as working as a DJ at local bars.
After graduating from high school (Pierce American College of Greece) were he participated in drama
clubs ,plays ,concerts etc ,Dimitris decided to study film and tv in the UK. But family health reasons
made him change his plans and he studied film and TV at the historic Lykourgos Stavrakos Film
School in Athens with specialty in Sound Engineering participating in many short student films. After
graduating and his 2 year service in the Greek military he passed the exams of the Ministry of
Culture and was certified as a professional Sound Engineer.
Later on Dimitris worked as a live sound engineer at a live music club before returning to radio were
he had his own show and worked as a sound engineer as well .
In 2000 he made the jump from radio to TV were he would spend the next 18 years at Star Channel
TV as head of the music department (Music Supervisor) and doing voice over work as well.
During these 18 years Dimitris took part in all kinds of productions (news, sitcoms, gameshows,
live shows etc) building credit and experience in various fields.
In 2018 Dimitris decided to leave the safety of an 18 year position to pursue his creative dreams
After one year of freelance work in post production, voice over etc ,he joined the team at Correct
Creative Productions firstly as a sound engineer-sound designer and vo artist and soon as a
producer/director.
He has since produced,directed and assisted in directing many tv commercials, shorts, music
videos etc.
In 2021 he decided it was time to bring to the big screen his first short film of a script he wrote 3
years ago. With the help of many talented people “JACKPOT” became a reality.
In 2024 Dimitris was admitted as a member of the Director’s Guild of Greece.
